The Problem
An early-stage aviation ops startup needed to both win new enterprise clients through strong RFP-ready product work, and mature a core platform inherited from a previous design team.
What I Did
Took over design end-to-end — core flows like navigation, authentication, and chat, plus a real-time ops dashboard that meant learning aircraft turnaround operations from scratch to design it well.
Result
Most designed features shipped, including AI-assisted flight and aircraft popups. The engagement wrapped due to Opfyx's funding timing, not performance.

Cleared for takeoff (eventually)
I joined Opfyx as a contractor, taking over design from a previous studio at a startup building tools for the whole aviation ecosystem — airlines, airports, ground handlers. The flight dashboard and AI-generated shift handover summary above are two clear examples of where that work landed: dense operational data made scannable, with AI doing some of the reading for the team. Getting there meant learning a domain I knew nothing about first.

The turnaround view needed to surface real-time information pulled from multiple disconnected systems and sensors, arriving as raw, unstructured data. Rather than decorate the mess, I proposed smart tables — a dense, scannable view built for people working under real time pressure.

When something goes wrong
The alert view adapts to whatever raw data triggered it — sensor feeds, FeedbackNow, whichever source crossed a threshold — giving ops staff what they need to triage the issue, escalate it, or assign it, without digging through the source data themselves.




A huge amount of day-to-day coordination happened outside the dashboards, in chat — so messaging got just as much design attention, down to voice notes and quick reactions.

Keeping tasks clear, and letting AI help
Task management needed the same clarity as the dashboards — always answering one question fast: what do I need to do right now? Layered on top, AI took on some of the reading itself, distilling unread messages into something scannable instead of something to scroll through mid-shift.


Beneath the day-to-day screens sat a harder structural problem: allocating limited resources — gates, staff, equipment — across a system that never fully stops moving.

And because Opfyx works across multiple operators, the system had to flex — the white-labelled views shown here are proof the structure holds up across different brands, not just one.
